The Inter-parliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union was established under article 13 of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union (‘fiscal compact’) which entered into force in 2013. The Conference provides a framework for discussion and exchange of information and best practices between the national parliaments of the Member States and the European Parliament on topics in the fields of economic governance and fiscal policy of the Union. The conference convenes twice a year. In the first semester of each year it is held in the European Parliament in Brussels in the framework of the European Parliamentary Week and is co-presided over by the parliament holding the presidency of the Council and the European Parliament. In the second semester of each year, it is held in the Member State holding the presidency of the Council.
The Conference will be held in the European Parliament in the framework of the European Parliamentary Week and co-presided over by the Croatian Parliament and the European Parliament. The European Parliamentary Week brings together representatives of competent committees from Member States’ national parliaments who discuss economic, budgetary and social matters. Along with the Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union, the European Parliamentary Week also includes the European Semester Conference, during which the implementation of the European Semester cycles is discussed.
